How much does it cost not to weigh cargo vehicles correctly?

This issue directly impacts the service life of road infrastructure, its safety and investment planning. HS-WIM (High-Speed Weigh-in-Motion) technology, designed to identify overweight vehicles, is generating significant interest among governments and infrastructure operators around the world.

To explore this topic further, Sinelec held a technical workshop at the Administrative City of the Government of Minas Gerais, bringing together approximately 50 representatives from public agencies responsible for the planning, regulation, and management of transportation infrastructure in the state.

During the event, we went far beyond an institutional presentation. We provided an in-depth technical overview of the HS-WIM ecosystem, covering its technological architecture, sensors, metrological certification, implementation criteria, integration with other ITS systems, operation, calibration, maintenance, and costs throughout the entire life cycle of the solution.

We also shared experiences and real implementation cases, demonstrating how HS-WIM can support pavement preservation, increase road safety, raise enforcement efficiency, produce qualified data for infrastructure management, and generate return on investment through reduced maintenance costs, improved availability of the road network, and environmental gains, with lower material consumption, fewer maintenance interventions, and reduced emissions associated with roadworks and highway operations.

The highlight of the workshop was the open discussion on the challenges and opportunities for Minas Gerais, enabling the exchange of experiences among specialists, public managers, and decision-makers. It is precisely this collaborative environment that makes it possible to turn technology into public policy and consistent projects.
