Port of Genua: Outfitting Quay completed

The enhancement of the Genoa port hub continues, an international infrastructure project aimed at upgrading the port to the most modern operational standards. The initiative, which sees Sinelec serving as the lead partner for the plant engineering component, is divided into three main areas: the New Yard (Lot B), the New Dry Dock (Lot C), and the Outfitting Quay (Lot D). The objective is to equip the port with new electrical and mechanical systems, essential to support the construction and outfitting activities of large cruise ships.

The project has reached a key milestone with the completion of activities related to Lot D. The interventions involved the creation of an integrated and highly flexible plant system. Specifically, the new fire-fighting station and the technological networks housed in the new distribution tunnels along the quay have been completed. These tunnels constitute the core infrastructure for the management and distribution of key industrial fluids, including compressed air, industrial water and shore-to-ship fire-fighting systems.

On the electrical front, the new Medium Voltage distribution network for the MV/LV transformation cabins and the Shore-to-Ship power supply systems has been implemented, contributing significantly to the reduction of emissions while ships are docked. Furthermore, power systems, lighting, and network supervision systems have been installed to ensure reliability and service continuity.

Particular attention was also dedicated to technological innovation with the introduction of an advanced BMS (Building Management System). This system allows for centralized, real-time monitoring of plant performance, improving operational efficiency and maintenance.

The activities, which began in March 2025, are moving forward at a steady pace toward the final goal: the delivery of the entire project is scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
