WIM systems: the state of the art and what’s next, Sinelec’s overview for “LeStrade”, March Issue

Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) are undergoing a significant development given the variety of areas they are used in and the resulting benefits for stakeholders who decide to invest in this technology.

These systems are becoming strategic instruments for the Asset Management; at the same time, a great consolidation of their more “traditional” applications connected with road traffic data collection and statistics, tolling and logistics is taking place, as well as the increasingly urgent need for a direct enforcement  system for contrasting the phenomenon of overloaded vehicles in an effective way.

Starting from the definition, the state of the art and the technological evolution, we present LIBRA/S, SINELEC’ solution for WIM: an enabling instrument for the protection of infrastructure, the collection of information relating to traffic, the implementation of policies based on weight, as well as enforcement activities and, finally, for applications associated with the gate management in ports, logistics centers and industrial sites.
