13 Oct 2021 Sinelec delivers V2X to the city: collaboration with 5T, pioneer in Turin with the C-Roads project
The European project C-Roads Italy 2, a pilot initiative in Italy of the European platform C-Roads for C-ITS (Cooperative – Intelligent Transportation Systems) services in urban areas, involves the city of Turin as implementing body and test-site.
The city of Turin has commissioned 5T – a company that designs, implements and manages mobility systems and services in Turin and Piedmont – to develop a subgroup of DAY1 and DAY1.5 services, i.e. specific use cases aimed at increasing traffic efficiency and safety.
SINELEC has been chosen by 5T as a technology partner for the implementation of these services: in addition to supplying and integrating the communication hardware (V2X), SINELEC will supply the software modules to manage this equipment and the bidirectional real-time transmission of C-ITS messages.
The software modules of SINELEC, part of EMERAS (a C-ITS platform originally developed for motorway infrastructures), have been specifically developed to enable typical urban services, such as ‘suggestion of the optimum speed at traffic lights’ and ‘information on the timing and change of status of traffic lights’.
Starting from the actual necessity and comprehension of the themes of connected mobility applied in a specific environment, it was possible for SINELEC to bring its technological know-how and operational experience to 5T, providing an ad hoc solution capable of integrating with existing systems and opening up to future upgrades, for a smarter and more connected mobility.
